Our Product Roadmap: SMS First, AI Later

    Fentone Omwony3 min read

Kilele Hub's product roadmap starts with SMS reliability today, then adds WhatsApp, email, and behavioral AI. Here's why we're building this way.

Every strong platform starts with a clear first step.

For Kilele Hub, that first step is SMS.

We are starting with a channel that businesses already understand and customers already use. From there, we are building toward email, WhatsApp, behavioral insights, automation, and AI-supported engagement.

Why Our Product Roadmap Starts with SMS

SMS reaches every phone in Kenya. It does not require a smartphone, data bundle, or app download. When a county health program needs to remind 40,000 residents about a vaccination deadline, or when a digital lender needs to recover a stalled loan application, SMS delivers.

Safaricom, Airtel, and Telkom networks handle billions of messages each month. The infrastructure is proven. Businesses trust it. Customers check it.

Starting with SMS lets us solve real communication problems now, not in two years when multi-channel orchestration is live.

    What Comes After SMS

Kilele Hub trials begin in September 2026 with SMS-first behavioral journeys. WhatsApp and email integration are planned for March 2027.

WhatsApp matters because customers increasingly expect richer media and two-way conversation. Email matters for account statements, policy documents, and messages customers want to search and save.

But neither channel replaces SMS. A borrower may ignore a WhatsApp message if data is expensive that week. A farmer may not have email. The product roadmap adds channels without assuming everyone will use them.

Behavioral Frameworks Built In from the Start

Kilele Hub is not just a messaging platform. It applies behavioral science frameworks like EAST and B=MAP to customer journeys.

EAST means making messages Easy, Attractive, Social, and Timely. A reminder sent at 9am on a Monday performs differently than one sent at 4pm on a Friday. That is the fresh start effect in action.

B=MAP says behavior happens when motivation, ability, and prompts align. If a customer has motivation but the process requires five steps and two office visits, ability is too low. Kilele Pulse診斷 where journeys stall. Kilele Hub then delivers prompts timed to ability windows, like sending a loan completion reminder right after M-Pesa salary deposit.

Commitment and consistency bias means a customer who completes one small step is more likely to finish the full journey. Our roadmap includes logic to recognize partial progress and reinforce it, not just blast the same message to everyone.

    Building Toward Kilele AI

The long-term vision includes Kilele AI, which learns from engagement patterns and optimizes send times, message variants, and channel choice.

But AI is not the starting point. It requires data. It requires volume. It requires a working platform underneath.

We are building that platform now. SMS journeys generate the behavioral data that will train AI models later. Every opt-out, every reply, every conversion teaches the system what works for different customer segments.

The product roadmap is deliberate. Reliable messaging first. Behavioral frameworks second. AI-supported optimization third.

Why This Matters for Your Program

If you run loan onboarding for a fintech and 60% of approved applicants never activate, you need a solution this year, not when the perfect AI arrives.

If you manage a county enrollment program and field officers waste days chasing residents who already complied, you need working reminders now.

Kilele Hub is being built for those problems. Simple enough to deploy in months. Smart enough to improve results. Extensible enough to grow with your needs.

Kilele means peak. For us, that means building toward the peak of customer engagement, one practical release at a time.

If drop-off in your customer journeys is costing you growth, join the Kilele Hub waitlist. Trials begin September 2026, and early partners help shape what we build next.
